S&P Futures Opening Update as on 08 September 2017

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,459.00 with a loss of -0.30% percent or -7.50 point. Other U.S. stock futures are lower in pre-market trading for Friday, September 08. The Dow Futures are trading at 21,730.50 with a loss of -0.31% percent or -67.50 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,956.25 with a loss of -0.23% percent or -13.75 point.

FRIDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. government debt prices were higher on Friday, as investors geared up for more data releases, while awaiting a speech by a Federal Reserve member.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note sat lower at around 2.036 percent at 5:40 a.m. ET, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was down at 2.658 percent. Bond yields move inversely to prices.

In central bank news, Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker is expected to deliver remarks at the “New Perspectives on Consumer Behavior in Credit and Payments Markets” Conference in Philadelphia.

In addition, investors are likely to be digesting the comments recently made by the European Central Bank, after it decided to leave its benchmark interest rate unchanged at its September meeting.

THURSDAY’S ACTIVITY

U.S. market were mixed on Thursday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 21,784.78  with a loss of –0.10% percent or –22.86 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,465.10 with a loss of –0.02% percent or –0.44 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,397.87 for up with +0.07% percent or +4.55 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,398.67  with a loss of -0.25% percent or -3.52 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 837.41  with a loss of –0.30% percent or –2.53 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,713.58 with a loss of –0.35% percent or –6.09 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,090.41  with 0.00% percent or –0.03 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,456.83  with  a loss of  –0.06% percent or –0.95 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,365.09  with a loss of –0.05% percent or –0.68 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 21,784.78  with a loss of –0.10% percent or –22.86 point.

WORLD MARKETS

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,   Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 19,274.82 with a loss of –0.63% percent or –121.70 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 27,645.15 for up with  +0.44% percent or +122.23 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,363.67 with a loss of –0.05% percent or –1.83 point. India’s S&P BSE Sensex are trading at 31,713.99 for up with +0.16% percent or +51.25 point at 12:15 PM. In Europe, The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,365.51 with  a loss of –0.43% percent or –32.33 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,296.26  with 0.00% percent or –0.37 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,101.92  with a loss of  –0.24% percent or –12.44 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 374.64  with -0.08% percent or -0.26 point.
