S&P Futures Opening Update as on 13 March 2018

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,793.50 for up  with +0.16%  percent or +4.50 point. Other U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Tuesday, March 13. The Dow Futures are trading at 25,285.00 for up  with +0.19% percent or +47.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 7,169.00 for up with +0.05% percent or +3.25 point.

TUESDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. government debt prices were lower Tuesday morning ahead of some key economic data.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note was higher at around 2.881 percent at 5:40 a.m. ET, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was higher at 3.140 percent. Bond yields move inversely to prices.

On Tuesday, economic data is set to dominate investor sentiment — particularly the releases concerning inflation.

 At 6 a.m. ET, the NFIB Small Business Optimism Index is due out, followed by a whole batch of core consumer price index (CPI) data, scheduled to be released at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Meantime on the auctions front, the U.S. Treasury is due to auction $65 billion in four-week bills and $13 billion in 30-year bonds.

MONDAY’S ACTIVITY

U.S. market were mixed on Monday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 25,178.61   with a loss of  -0.62% percent or  -157.13 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,783.02 with a loss of -0.13% percent or -3.55 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,588.32 for up with +0.36% percent or  +27.51 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,601.06  for up with +0.25% percent or +3.91 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 974.13  for up  with + 0.40% percent or +3.87 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,951.24 for up  with +0.11% percent or + 2.18 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,227.61  with a loss of -0.11% percent or -1.36 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,647.41  with a loss of -0.06% percent or  -1.05 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,542.12 with a loss of -0.09% percent or -1.37 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 25,178.61 with a loss of  -0.62% percent or -157.13 point.

WORLD MARKETS

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 21,968.10 for up  with  +0.66% percent or  +144.07 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 31,543.49 with  a loss of -0.16% percent or  -50.84 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,310.24  with a loss of   -0.49% percent or -16.46 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 33,662.53 for up with +0.30% percent or  +100.87 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,215.95 for up  with +0.02% percent or  +1.19 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,437.60  for up with +0.15% percent or +19.21 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,301.19 for up   with +0.46% percent or +24.48 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 379.59  for up with +0.10% percent or +0.38 point.
