S&P Futures Opening Update as on 31 October 2019


The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 3,038.88   with a loss of  -0.29% percent or -8.87 point.  Other U.S. stock futures lower in pre-market trading for  October 31.The Dow Futures is trading at 27,050.00  with a loss of -0.30% percent or -82.00 point.The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 8,097.50 with a loss of -0.17% percent or -13.75 point.


Relief over well-received results from Apple and Facebook may not be enough to fuel another S&P 500 record on Thursday, as rumblings on the trade front are getting in the way.

Those big tech names are an integral part of our call of the day from BlueBox Asset Management’s co-portfolio manager William De Gale who says it’s time for investors to look past the household names to companies on the cutting edge of the next big technology shift — connecting computers to the real world.

“I want to own companies that are going to be dramatically better than five years from today,” the former BlackRock tech fund manager tells MarketWatch in an interview.


For the day the Dow is trading at 27,186.69 up with +0.43% percent or +115.27 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 3,046.77 with 0.33% percent or +9.88 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 8,303.98  with 0.33% percent or +27.12 point

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,572.85 with a loss of –0.27% percent or -4.23 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 975.91  with a loss of –0.45% percent or –4.45 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,969.94 with a loss of –0.27% percent or -5.30  point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,351.83 up with +0.44% percent or +5.98 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,784.63 up with +0.28%  percent or +5.01 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,682.79 up with +0.32%  or +5.37  point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,927.04 up with +0.37% percent or +83.92 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 26,851.89 with 0.69% percent or +184.18 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,929.06 with a loss of –0.35% percent or –10.26  point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 40,294.94 up with +0.61% percent or +243.07 point at 12:15 PM.Germany’s DAX is trading at 12,875.79  with a loss of –0.27% percent or –34.44 point. France’s CAC 40 is trading at 5,742.44   with  a loss of –0.41% percent or –23.42 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 is trading at 397.15   with a loss of -0.39% percent or -1.55  point.
