S&P Futures Opening Update as on 24 May 2017

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,397.75  with a loss of  -0.01% percent. Other U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for wednesday, May 24. The Dow Futures are trading at 20,919.00 for up with +0.02% percent . The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,718.38 for up with +0.13% percent.

WEDNESDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a relatively flat open on Wednesday, as investors geared up for the release of minutes from the Federal Reserve’s last meeting.Dow futures slipped 4 points, while S&P and Nasdaq futures traded 0.75 points lower and 4.75 points higher, respectively.

 At the meeting in May, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decided to hold fire on raising interest rates.

Investors will be combing through the documents to see if there are any indications as to when the Fed could raise rates over the course of 2017. Many analysts are currently pricing in a rate hike at its next meeting in June.

TUESDAY’S ACTIVITY

U.S. market indexes were higher on Tuesday. For the day the S&P 500 closed at 2,398.42 for up with +0.18% percent. The Dow Jones Industrial closed at 20,937.91 for up with +0.21% percent. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,138.71 for up with +0.08% percent.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,380.98 for up with +0.28% percent; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 836.52 for up with +0.26% percent; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,723.78 for up with +0.18% percent; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,058.53 for up with 0.29% percent; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,420.06 for up with +0.18% percent; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,329.23 for up with +0.17% percent; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 20,937.91 for up with +0.21% percent.

WORLD MARKETS

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 19,742.98 for up with  +0.66% percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 25,428.50 for up with +0.10% percent. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,064.08 for up with  +0.07% percent. India’s S&P BSE Sensex closed at 30,301.64 with a loss of –0.21% percent. In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,508.05 for up with +0.30% percent. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,635.47  with a loss of –0.19% percent. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,344.59 with a loss of – 0.07% percent. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 392.20 for up with +0.04% percent.
