S&P Futures Opening Update as on 25 May 2017

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,406.50 for up with +0.19% percent. Other U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Thursday, May 25. The Dow Futures are trading at 21,039.50 for up with +0.26% percent . The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,748.38 for up with +0.30% percent.

THURSDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a higher open on Thursday as oil-producing nations agree to extend production cuts for nine months.

This comes as the group seeks to curb a global supply overhang which has depressed prices and revenues over the past three years.

The proposed cuts are expected to be shared again by non-OPEC producers later on Thursday. Led by Russia, non-OPEC producers had initially curbed output in conjunction with OPEC in a landmark deal for the first half of the year from January.

 Nevertheless, U.S. crude prices fell more than 1.5 percent to $50.53 a barrel.
 Dow futures rose nearly 70 points, while S&P and Nasdaq futures advanced 6 points and 19 points

U.S. market indexes were higher on Wednesday. For the day the S&P 500 closed at 2,404.39 for up with +0.25%percent. The Dow Jones Industrial closed at 21,012.42 for up with +0.36% percent. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,163.02 for up with +0.40% percent.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,382.51 for up with +0.11% percent; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 836.96 for up with +0.05% percent; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,728.35 for up with +0.27% percent; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,060.76 for up with +0.21% percent; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,423.58  for up with +0.25% percent; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,332.68 for up with +0.26% percent; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 21,012.42 for up with +0.36% percent.

WORLD MARKETS

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 19,813.13 for up with +0.36% percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 25,630.78 for up with +0.80% percent. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,107.83 for up with +1.43% percent. India’s S&P BSE Sensex closed at 30,750.03 for up with +1.48% percent. In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,509.72 with a loss of –0.07% percent. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,615.93 with a loss of –0.21% percent. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,337.99 with a loss of –0.06% percent. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 392.07 with  a loss of -0.08% percent.
