S&P Futures Opening Update as on 09 February 2018

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,610.50 for up with +0.66% percent or +17.00 point. Other U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Friday, February 09. The Dow Futures are trading at 24,078.00  for up with +0.45% percent or +108.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,368.50  for up with +0.81% percent or +51.25 point.

FRIDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. government debt prices were mixed on Friday.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note was lower at around 2.843 percent at 5:05 a.m. ET, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was slightly higher at 3.139 percent. Bond yields move inversely to prices.

Volatile trading continues to be seen across markets worldwide. On Thursday, U.S. stocks finished deep in the red as higher interest rates continued to weigh on sentiment.

The Dow Jones industrial average finished the session down 1,032.89 points at 23,860.46 — entering correction territory. In addition, developments in the political space have been keeping investors on edge.

It became apparent late Thursday that parts of the U.S. government would be entering a shutdown, after the Senate failed to secure the passing of a spending bill by the midnight deadline.

THURSDAY’S ACTIVITY

U.S. market were lower on Thursday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 23,860.46  with  a loss of -4.15% percent or -1,032.89 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,581.00 with a loss of -3.75% percent or  -100.66 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,777.16  with a loss of -3.90% percent or  -274.82.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,463.79  with a loss of -2.93% percent or -44.18 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 893.05  with a loss of  -2.78%  percent or -25.49  point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 20.89  with a loss of -3.29% percent or  -0.71 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at  1,142.28 with a loss of -3.81% percent or -45.28 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,525.26 with a   loss of  -3.66% percent or  -57.92 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,429.23  with a loss of –3.72% percent or -55.18 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at  23,860.46 with a loss of -4.15% percent or  -1,032.89  point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 21,382.62   with a loss of -2.32% percent or  -508.24 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 29,388.52 with a loss of -3.49% percent or -1,062.75 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,129.85 with a loss  -4.05% percent or -132.20 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 34,005.76 with a loss of -1.18% percent or  -407.40  point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,150.26  with a loss of -0.28% percent or  -20.43 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,203.21  with  a loss of -0.47% percent or  -57.08 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,122.94  with a loss of -0.56% percent or -28.74 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 371.79  with a loss of -0.60% percent or -2.17 point.
