On the data front, new jobless claims and inflation figures are due at around 8:30 a.m. ET. Both sets of data will be important to track the health of the U.S. economy and potential equity performance over the coming months.
In auctions, the U.S. Treasury is scheduled to auction $14 billion in 29-year 10-month bonds on Thursday.
Elsewhere, in oil markets, Brent crude traded at around $74.90 a barrel on Thursday morning, up 2 percent, while U.S. crude stood at $70.96 a barrel, up 0.84 percent.
