S&P Futures Opening Update as on 17 May 2019

 

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,864.62  with a loss of -0.48% percent or -13.88 point..Other U.S. stock futures lower in pre-market trading for  May 17. The Dow Futures is trading at 25,746.00 with a loss of -0.47% percent or -121.00 point.The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 7,552.50 with a loss of -0.63% percent or -47.75 point.

FRIDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

Walmart shares rose 1.4% after the retailer posted first-quarter earnings for fiscal 2020 that topped analyst expectations. The company said it is in a “good position ” to meet its goals for 2019 despite tough comparisons for the second quarter.

Cisco Systems also reported better-than-expected quarterly earnings, sending its stock up 6.7%. The company issued stronger-than-forecast revenue guidance as well.

Shares of Citigroup, J.P. Morgan Chase, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs all gained more than 1%. Banks rose as the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield climbed back above 2.4% on stronger-than-forecast data. Housing starts for April topped expectations while weekly jobless claims dropped more than expected.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,557.24 up with +0.58% percent or +8.97 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 949.34 up with +0.35% percent or +3.28 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,911.41  up with +0.60% percent or +11.43 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,274.32  up with +0.95% percent or +12.02 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,695.60 up with +0.87% percent or +14.70 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,594.05  up with +0.90% or +14.17 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 21,250.09 up with +0.89% percent or +187.11 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 27,938.18 with a loss of -1.19% percent or -336.89   point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,882.30  with a loss of -2.48% percent or -73.41 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 37,727.87 up with +0.89% percent or +334.39 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 is trading at 7,322.79  with a loss of -0.42% percent or -30.72 point. Germany’s DAX is trading at 12,209.94 with a loss of -0.82% percent or  -100.43 point. France’s CAC 40 is trading at 5,422.94 with a loss of -0.46% percent or -25.16 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 is trading at 380.53 with a loss of -0.61% percent or -2.37  point.
