S&P Futures Opening Update as on 26 May 2017

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,409.00  with a loss of -4.50 points. Other U.S. stock futures are mixed in pre-market trading for Friday, May 26. The Dow Futures are trading at 21,027.50  with a loss of +0.26% percent . The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,775.12 with a loss of -0.12% percent.

FRIDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a slightly lower open on Friday as traders appeared to move away from riskier assets amid fluctuating oil prices. Investors also digested key economic data.Dow futures slipped about 23 points, while S&P and Nasdaq futures declined 2.75 points and 3.5 points, respectively.

The first revision to first-quarter GDP showed the U.S. economy grew at a rate of 1.2 percent, higher than an expected reading of 0.7 percent. Meanwhile, durable goods orders declined 0.7 percent, less than expected. Consumer sentiment data for May are also scheduled for release at 10 a.m. ET.

THURSDAY’S ACTIVITY

U.S. market indexes were higher on Thursday. For the day the S&P 500 closed at 2,415.07  for up with +0.44% percent. The Dow Jones Industrial closed at 21,082.95 for up with +0.34% percent. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,205.26 for up with +0.69% percent.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,383.39 for up with +0.06% percent; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 837.69 for up with +0.09% percent; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,731.34 for up with +0.17% percent; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,064.93 for up with +0.39% percent; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,338.25 for up with +0.39% percent; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,332.68 for up with +0.42% percent; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 21,082.95  with +0.00% percent.

WORLD MARKETS

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 19,686.84  with a loss of –0.64% percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 25,639.27 for up with +0.03% percent. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,110.06 for up with +0.07% percent. India’s S&P BSE Sensex closed at 31,028.21 for up with +0.90% percent. In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,545.54 with a loss of –0.37% percent. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,559.85 with a loss of –0.49% percent. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,300.17 with a loss of –0.69% percent. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 390.31 with a loss of –0.46% percent.
