S&P Futures Opening Update as on 09 June 2017

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,434.50 for up with +0.08% percent or +2.00 point. Other U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Friday, June 09. The Dow Futures are trading at 21,200.00 for up with +0.10% percent or +22.00 point . The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,885.25  with 0.00% percent or +0.25 point.

FRIDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. government debt prices were pointing in different directions on Friday, as investors processed the news that Theresa May’s Conservative party had failed to secure a majority in the general election and that the country would be facing a hung parliament.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note sat slightly higher at around 2.202 percent at 6:39 a.m. ET, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was slightly off at 2.858 percent. Bond yields move inversely to prices.

With limited data and events coming out of the U.S. on Friday, investors are expected to turn their attention overseas for their cues. One topic expected to dominate sentiment on Friday is that of the U.K. election outcome.

 As voting results rolled out on Friday morning, it became apparent that the U.K. Prime Minister’s Conservative party didn’t secure a majority in the snap election – which had been called earlier this year with the hope of strengthening the party’s position in parliament.

U.S. market indexes were higher Thursday. For the day The S&P 500 closed at 2,433.79 for up with +0.03% percent or +0.65 point. the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 21,182.53 for up with +0.04% percent or +8.84 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,321.76 for up with +0.39% percent or +24.38 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,414.08 for up with +1.31% percent or +18.31 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 857.88 for up with +1.38% percent or +11.68 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,750.76 for up with +0.80% percent or +13.92 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,073.04 with a loss of -0.04% percent or  -0.43 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,441.95 for up with +0.15% percent or +2.16 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,348.69 for up with +0.05% percent or 0.71 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 21,182.53 for up with +0.04% percent or +8.84 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 20,013.26 for up with  +0.52% percent or +104.00 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 26,030.29  with a loss of – 0.13% percent or –32.77 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,158.40 for up with +0.26% percent or +8.07 point. India’s S&P BSE Sensex are trading at 31,262.06 for up with +0.16% percent or +48.70 point. In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,479.74 for up with  +0.40% percent or +29.76 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,742.30 for up with +0.23% percent or +28.72 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,270.50 for up with +0.12% percent or +6.26 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 388.65 with a loss of  -0.13% percent or -0.46 point.
