US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,431.50 with a loss of -0.08% percent or -2.00 point. Other U.S. stock futures are lower in pre-market trading for Thursday, June 22. The Dow Futures are trading at 21,365.00 with a loss of -0.06% percent or -13.50 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,790.25 with a loss of -0.10% percent or -5.75 point.

THURSDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. government debt prices were lower on Thursday, as investors await a whole host of economic data.

 The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note sat higher at around 2.55 percent at 8:41 a.m. ET, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was off at 2.730 percent. Bond yields move inversely to prices.

On the data front, jobless claims hit 241,000, just above the expected 240,000 number. The FHFA House Price Index is set for release at 9 a.m. ET and the Kansas City Fed Manufacturing Index is expected at 11 a.m. ET.

 Meanwhile a number of announcements are due. The U.S. Treasury is set to announce the size of 13-Week and 26-week bills auction and the size of a 2-Year, 5-Year and 7-Year notes auction.

In Asia, the Bank of Japan’s Deputy Governor Kikuo Iwata rejected the desire to push interest rates higher in the near term, underlining how the Japanese economy still required support from “powerful” monetary easing, with inflation far from the central bank’s 2 percent target, according to Reuters.

For the day The S&P 500 closed at 2,435.61 with a loss of –0.06% percent or –1.42 point. the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 21,410.03 with a loss of –0.27% percent or –57.11 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,233.95 for up with  +0.74% percent or  +45.92 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,399.25 with a loss of -0.26% percent or -3.71 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 842.23 with a loss of –0.53% percent or –4.51 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,734.91 with a loss of- 0.60% percent or –10.50 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,074.44 with a loss of  –0.02% percent or –0.25 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,440.99 with a loss of -0.09% percent or  -1.34 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,348.99 with a loss of -0.08% percent or -1.07 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 21,410.03 with a loss of  –0.27% percent or -57.11 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 20,110.51 with a loss of  –0.14% percent or –28.28 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 25,674.53 with a loss of  –0.08% percent or  –20.05 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,147.45 with a loss of –0.28% percent or  –8.76 point. India’s S&P BSE Sensex are trading at 31,290.74  for up with   +0.02% percent or  +7.10 point. In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,424.10 with a loss of –0.32% percent or –23.69 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,772.29 with a loss of –0.02% percent or –2.58 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,254.21 with a loss of –0.38% percent or –20.05 point.
