S&P Futures Opening Update as on 09 August 2017

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,464.75 with a loss of  -0.32% percent or -8.00 point. Other U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Wednesday, August 09. The Dow Futures are trading at 21,998.00 with a loss of -0.15% percent or -32.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,889.75 with a loss of  -0.48% percent or -29.38 point.

WEDNESDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a slightly lower open on Wednesday, as investors focus on rising geopolitical tensions between the U.S. and North Korea, and get ready to pore over another slew of corporate earnings.

Mylan Labs, Wendy’s, 21st Century Fox, Office Depot and e.l.f. Beauty will be some of the leading brands set to publish earnings before and after the bell.

On the data front, productivity and costs data are due out at 8:30 a.m. ET, followed by wholesale trade at 10 a.m. ET. Mortgage applications rose by 3 percent last week, boosted by a drop in rates.

In the political sphere, investors will be keeping a close eye on the rising tensions between North Korea and the U.S. on Wednesday.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,410.15 with a loss of -0.28% percent or -4.02 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 851.48 with a loss of –0.38% percent or –3.27 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,748.01 with  a loss of –0.28% percent or –4.89 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,095.22 with  a loss of –0.18% percent or –1.99 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,462.98 with a loss of –0.25% percent or –3.69 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,370.42 with a loss of –0.25% percent or –3.42 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 22,085.34 with a loss of –0.15% percent or –33.08 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 19,738.71 with a loss of –1.29% percent or –257.30 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 27,763.26 with a loss of –0.33% percent or –91.65 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,273.23 with a loss of –0.26%percent or –8.64 point. India’s S&P BSE Sensex are trading at 31,887.68 with a loss of –0.40% percent or –126.51 point at 12:15 PM . In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,486.87 with a loss of –0.74% percent or –55.54 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,139.89 with a loss of –1.24% percent or –152.16 point.
