S&P Futures Opening Update as on 17 August 2017

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,461.50  with a loss of -0.24% percent or -6.00 point. Other U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Thursday, August 17. The Dow Futures are trading at 21,965.00  with  a loss of -0.23% percent or -51.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 5,898.38  with a loss of -0.42% percent or -25.12 point.

THURSDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a slightly lower open on Thursday, as political turbulence coming from the White House capped gains in global trading.
Tensions may appear to show signs of receding between the U.S. and North Korea, however, storm clouds seem to be brewing domestically.
 U.S. President Donald Trump has disbanded two corporate advisory councils in the wake of receiving backlash from his statements surrounding the white supremacist rally seen in Virginia over the past weekend.

Taking to Twitter, the U.S. incumbent said that “rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople” within the Strategic & Policy Forum and the Manufacturing Council, the president has decided to dissolve both groups.

For the day The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 22,024.87 for up with +0.12% percent or +25.88 point.The S&P 500 closed at 2,468.11 for up with +0.14% percent or  +3.50 point.The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,345.11 for up with   +0.19% percent or +12.10  point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,383.53 for up with  +0.02% percent or +0.30 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 835.49 for up with   +0.09% percent or  +0.74 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,725.83 for up with  +0.23% percent or +4.03 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,092.58 for up with +0.08% percent or + 0.82 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,456.76 for up with  +0.16% percent or +2.29 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,366.21 for up with  +0.17% percent or +2.30 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 22,024.87 for up with +0.12% percent or +25.88 point.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 27,355.58  with a loss of  –0.20% percent or –53.49 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,267.38 for up with  +0.64% percent or  +20.93 point. India’s S&P BSE Sensex are trading at 31,796.65 for up with +0.08% percent or +25.76 point at 12:15 PM . In Europe, the FTSE 100 are trading at 7,405.82 with a loss of-0.37% percent or  –27.21 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,259.08 with a loss of  –0.04% percent or –4.78 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,168.34 with a loss of –0.16% percent or –8.27 point.
