S&P Futures Opening Update as on 02 January 2018


The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,679.25 for up with +0.12% percent or +3.25 point. Other U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Tuesday, January 02. The Dow Futures are trading at 24,748.00 for up with +0.05% percent or +22.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,413.75 for up  with +0.08% percent or +5.00 point.


U.S. markets finished last Friday’s session — and ended 2017’s last trading day — on a negative note, although the S&P 500 posted its best year since 2013. U.S. Treasury yields traded mostly lower on the last trading day of the year.

 Switching focus to the new year, with little economic news being released Tuesday, investors will be looking to geopolitics and news out of the auctions space.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Treasury is set to auction $48 billion in 13-week bills, $42 billion in 26-week bills and $50 billion in four-week bills. It will also auction $20 billion in 52-week bills.


U.S. market were lower on Monday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 24,719.22  with a loss of  -0.48% percent or  -118.29 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,673.61 with a loss of -0.52% percent or -13.93 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,903.39 with a loss of  -0.67% percent or  -46.77 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,535.51  with a loss of -0.87% percent or -13.41 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 936.26  with a loss of -0.76%  percent or -7.14  point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,900.57 with a loss of -0.56% percent or -10.71 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,183.15 with a loss of  -0.52% percent or  -6.14 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,582.77  with a loss of  -0.55% percent or -8.68 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,481.81  with a loss of  -0.52% percent or -7.73 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 24,719.22  with a loss of -0.48% percent or -118.29 point.


In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 22,764.94 with a loss of -0.08% percent or  -19.04 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 30,489.14  for up  with +1.89% percent or  +566.70 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,348.33 for up with +1.24% percent or +41.15 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 33,797.31 with a loss of -0.05% percent or  -15.44 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,651.82 with a loss of -0.47% percent or -35.95 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,821.22  with a loss of -0.75% percent or  -96.42 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,266.35 with a loss of -0.87% percent or -46.20 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 386.99 with a loss of -0.56%  percent or -2.19 point.
