WEDNESDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
U.S. government debt prices were mixed on Wednesday, as investors geared up for key data and speeches by members of the U.S. central bank.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note was slightly lower at around 2.544 percent at 4:55 a.m. ET, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was slightly higher at 2.894 percent. Bond yields move inversely to prices.
The benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury yield rose to its highest level since March on Tuesday, surpassing 2.5 percent. Many well-known investors have warned that this could be signalling a new era for fixed income.
