S&P Futures Opening Update as on 11 January 2018

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,751.75 for up with +0.03% percent or +0.75 point. Other U.S. stock futures are lower in pre-market trading for Wednesday, January 11. The Dow Futures are trading at 25,365.00 for up with +0.06% percent or +14.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,677.25 with 0.00% percent or 0.00 point.

THURSDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

The benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury yield rose to its highest level since March on Thursday, surpassing 2.5 percent, while bonds in general remained of key importance Wednesday after a report was published by Bloomberg News.

 Citing people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reported yesterday that officials in Beijing had recommended that China’s government lowers — or even potentially ceases — its buying of U.S. sovereign debt.
Since the report however, China’s currency regulator has announced that the country was diversifying its foreign exchange reserves and dismissed the media report on U.S. bonds, according to Reuters.

WEDNESDAY’S ACTIVITY

U.S. market were lower on Wednesday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 25,369.13  with a loss of -0.07% percent or  -16.67 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,748.23  with a loss of -0.11% percent or  -3.06 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,153.57  with a loss of  -0.14% percent or  -10.01 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,559.80  with  a loss of –0.02% percent or -0.30 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 948.33  with a loss of –0.13%  percent or –1.27 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,933.26  with a loss of -0.48% percent or -9.24 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,217.95  with a loss of -0.01% percent or  -0.17 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,623.96   with  a loss of -0.12%percent or -1.96 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,521.61  with -0.13% percent or -1.96  point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 25,369.13   with a loss of -0.07% percent or -16.67 point.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 31,108.49  for up  with +0.11% percent or  +34.77 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,425.34 for up with +0.10% percent or +3.51 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 34,523.47 for up with +0.26% percent or +90.40 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,743.50 with a loss of -0.06% percent or -5.01 point.
