S&P Futures Opening Update as on 15 January 2018

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,794.75 for up with +0.22% percent or +6.00 point. Other U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Monday, January 15. The Dow Futures are trading at 25,927.00 for up with +0.49% percent or +126.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,784.25 for up with +0.13% percent or +118.00 point.

MONDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

S&P 500 profits are expected to have risen 11.2 percent in the fourth quarter of last year. All 11 S&P 500 sectors, meanwhile, are expected to post increases in both earnings and revenue, according to FactSet. This would be the first time since 2011 that all the sectors in the S&P 500 posted sales and profit growth for the same quarter.

Stocks have carried over the momentum from 2017 into the new year thus far. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq have closed lower only once this year, while the Dow has fallen just twice. For 2018, the major averages are up at least 3.5 percent entering today’s session.

FRIDAY’S ACTIVITY

U.S. market were higher on Friday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 25,803.19 for up  with  +0.89% percent or +228.46 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,786.24  for up with +0.67% percent or  +18.68 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,261.06  for up with +0.68% percent or  +49.28 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,591.97  for up with  +0.33% percent or  +5.18 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 290.06  for up with +0.38%  percent or +1.09 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,965.97  for up with +0.27% percent or +5.29 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,234.55  for up with +0.71% percent or  +8.73 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,647.37 for up  with  +0.61% percent or +9.71 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,542.77 for up  with  +0.63% percent or +9.71  point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 25,803.19  for up  with +0.89% percent or +228.460 point.

WORLD MARKETS

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,  Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 23,714.88 for up with +0.26% percent or +61.06 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 31,378.85    with a loss of  -0.12% percent or  -36.62 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,410.49  with a loss of  -0.54% percent or -18.45 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 34,884.32  forup with +0.84% percent or +291.44 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,772.00 with  a loss of  -0.09% percent or -6.64 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 13,210.06  with  a loss of -0.26% percent or  -34.97 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,507.49  with a loss of -0.17% percent or -9.56 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 397.96  with a loss of -0.13% percent or  -0.55 point.
