S&P Futures Opening Update as on 06 February 2018

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,611.50  for up with +0.14% percent or +3.75 point. Other U.S. stock futures are mixed in pre-market trading for Tuesday, February 06. The Dow Futures are trading at 23,767.00  with a loss of —0.71% percent or -171.00 point. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,462.50 for up with  +0.52% percent or +33.25 point.

TUESDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

U.S. government debt prices were higher on Tuesday, as investors continued to keep abreast of the volatile trading seen across international and domestic markets.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note was lower at around 2.722 percent at 5:10 a.m. ET, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was lower at 3.023 percent. Bond yields move inversely to prices.

During Monday’s session, U.S. government debt prices rose sharply, with investors fleeing to safe-haven bonds as the sell-off in global equities continued. The sell-off kicked into action on Friday, after the latest nonfarm payrolls report saw interest rates on U.S. sovereign debt jump.

 While there was no particular piece of news that pushed major U.S. indexes deep into the red on Monday, the recent moves in the bond market have added volatility and concern to market sentiment.

MONDAY’S ACTIVITY

U.S. market were lower on Monday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 24,345.75  with a loss of -4.60% percent or -1,175.21 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,648.94  with a loss of -4.10% percent or  -113.19 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,967.53 with a loss of -3.78% percent or -273.42 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at  1,491.09  with a loss of -3.63% percent or -56.18  point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 908.74  with a loss of -3.68%  percent or -34.75  point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,849.53  with a loss of  -3.56% percent or  -68.21 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,171.85   with a loss of -4.31% percent or -52.84 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,564.66  with a loss of -3.98% percent or  -64.90 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,466.98  with  a loss of -4.01% percent or -61.29 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 24,345.75  with a loss of  -4.60% percent or  -1,175.21  point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 21,610.24  with a loss of -4.73% percent or -1,071.84 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 30,835.82   with a loss of -4.37% percent or -1,409.40 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,370.65  with a loss  -3.35% percent or -116.84 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 33,899.00 with a loss of  -2.47% percent or  -858.16  point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,171.56  with  a loss of -2.23% percent or  -163.42 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 12,403.57  with a loss of  -2.24% percent or  -283.92 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,185.31   with a loss of–1.90% percent or -100.51 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 374.15  with a loss of -2.05% percent or -7.84 point.
