S&P Futures Opening Update as on 22 July 2019


The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,985.88  up  with +0.30% percent or +8.88 point.  Other U.S. stock futures higher in pre-market trading for  July 22. The Dow Futures is trading at 27,194.50 up with +0.24% percent or +64.50 point. The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 7,879.12 up with +0.48% percent or +37.63 point.


U.S. stock index futures rose on Monday ahead of a big week for earnings. The gains came even as expectations of aggressive policy easing from the Federal Reserve dampen.

More than a quarter of the S&P 500 reports earnings this week including so-called FANG names Facebook, Alphabet and Amazon, along with blue chips like McDonald’s and Boeing. For second quarter earnings reported so far, 79% of S&P 500 companies have topped earnings results, according to FactSet.

So far, more than 15% of the S&P 500 has posted quarterly results. Of those companies, 78.5% have topped analyst expectations for earnings while 67% have reported better-than-expected quarterly revenues, according to FactSet data.

Stocks struggled last week, posting their biggest weekly decline since May as investors digested the first batch of corporate earnings reports and signals on potential Fed policy moves.


For the day the Dow is trading at 27,154.20   with a loss of -0.25% percent or -68.77 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,976.61 with a loss of -0.62% percent or -18.50 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 8,146.49  with a loss of -0.74% percent or -60.75 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,547.90   with a loss of -0.50% percent or -7.73 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 940.44 with a loss of -0.24% percent or -2.22 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,937.40   with a loss of -0.32% percent or -6.20 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,315.42 with a loss of -0.63% percent or -8.30 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,749.49  with a loss of -0.61% percent or -10.67 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,649.20  with a loss of -0.61% or -10.18 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, In other parts of world,  Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 21,416.79   with a loss of -0.23% percent or -50.20 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 28,371.26  with a loss of -1.37% percent or -394.14 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,886.97 with a loss of -1.27% percent or -37.23 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 38,522.36   with a loss of -0.87% percent or -334.62 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 is trading at 7,537.86  up with +0.39% percent or +29.33 point. Germany’s DAX is trading at 12,284.50   up with  +0.20% percent or +24.43 point. France’s CAC 40 is trading at 5,562.65  with +0.19% percent or +10.32 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 is trading at 387.69   up with +0.11% percent or +0.44 point.
