S&P Futures Opening Update as on 30 October 2019

US PRE MARKET

The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 3,037.12  up with +0.05% percent or +1.37 point.  Other U.S. stock futures higher in pre-market trading for  October 30.The Dow Futures is trading at 27,045.50 up with +0.01% percent or +3.50 point.The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 8,066.38  up with +0.14% percent or +11.13 point.

WEDNESDAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

Investors parsed another round of corporate earnings reports Tuesday with the health sector and finance sector providing some support, but technology shares weighed on the indexes.

Dow components Merck & Co. Inc. MRK, +3.53% and Pfizer Inc. PFE, +2.49%  closed 2.5% and 3.5% higher, respectively. Merck reported third-quarter profit and revenue that beat expectations and Pfizer said that third-quarter earnings rose more than expected, while upgrading guidance for the full-year 2019. The drug companies combined to give the Dow a 32-point boost in Tuesday trade.

For the day the Dow is trading at 27,071.42 with a loss of –0.071% percent or  –19.30 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 3,036.89 with a loss of –0.083% percent or –2.53 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 8,276.85  with a loss of –0.59% percent or –49.13 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,577.07 up with +0.33% percent or +5.14 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 980.36 up with +0.39% percent or +3.82 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,975.24 up with +0.23% percent or  +4.63  point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,345.85 with a loss of –0.35% percent or −4.72 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,779.62  with a loss of –0.058%  percent or -1.03 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,677.41 with a loss of –0.085%  or -1.42  point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere,In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,843.12 with a loss of –0.57% percent or –131.01 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 26,623.27 with a loss of –0.61% percent or –163.49 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,939.32 with a loss of –0.50% percent or –14.86  point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 40,093.46 up with +0.66% percent or +261.62 point at 12:15 PM.Germany’s DAX is trading at 12,923.66  with a loss of –0.12% percent or –15.96 point. France’s CAC 40 is trading at 5,753.00  up with +0.22% percent or +12.86 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 is trading at 398.41  up with +0.01% percent or +0.04  point.
