Marvell Technology experienced a decline of approximately 8% following the release of its current-quarter guidance for non-GAAP gross margin, which fell short of market expectations. Stocks advanced on Thursday, propelled by Nvidia’s post-earnings rally of nearly 9%. The technology sector, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite all recorded their best day since August 4. The Asia-Pacific market exhibited a mixed performance on Friday. Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 increased by 0.41, while South Korea’s Kospi decreased by 1.79%. China’s CSI 300 experienced a decline of 0.46%, whereas Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 recorded an increase of 0.6%.
Market participants are anticipating Warsh’s forthcoming address at the central bank’s annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. While not linked to a formal policy meeting, investors will be attentive to indications regarding Warsh’s perspective on the potential trajectory of interest rates. Fed funds futures indicate a probability of approximately 64% that the central bank will maintain its current interest rates during the upcoming meeting, as per the analysis provided by CME’s FedWatch tool.
“Investors have very little history with how he talks,” said Natalia Lojevsky. “New chairs use this stage to set the frame for their tenure, and whatever language he establishes Friday gets applied to every data print for the next year.” With Thursday’s advance, the three major indexes appear poised to conclude the week on an upward trajectory.
